Alan Kitching Exhibition
Resident designer, Simon, recently attended the annual ‘Pick Me Up Graphic Arts Festival‘ at Somerset House. In its seventh year, the festival features top emerging illustrators and designers as well as more establish names in graphic arts. The 2016 festival, running from 21st April – 2nd May is part of UTOPIA 2016: A Year of Imagination and Possibility.
The main reason he decided to go this year was to see an exhibition of Alan Kitching’s work, and his live print demonstrations. A legend in the world of letterpress typography and illustration, Kitching’s work has been at the leading edge of typographic design for six decades. To coincide with the exhibition there is a substantial hardback book available which has much of the work that is on display.
Alongside Alan’s work there were lots of other creative stuff to see – some sensible, some made as a box of frogs. Great to see the variety of work on show and a good way to spend a few hours on a Sunday while the rest of London was either running or watching the other leading annual event, the London Marathon.
